The Caer Firnas Sky Joust Event

Tonight, in Caledon Caer Firnas, the stakes were high as Man, Woman, And Ostrich took to the sky to compete in The 2010 Cavorite Cup Skyjoust event.

For those not familiar with the Game, the mad geniuses at Abraminations have re-interpreted a timeless tale of airborne doom from the arcades of yesteryear to the 3-Dimensional world of SecondLife as Sky-Joust.

Mounting up on ostrich-back, you take to the sky, trying to bring your lance to bare one your opponents.

The initial heat of the first round was a free for all. Donal Loxley, Hotspur O'Toole, Wendyslippers Charisma, and Kamika Ying were all dead set on unseating their fellow competitors as quickly as possible. The technique was very hit-and run, with Col. O'Toole coming in first with three kill, and Kamika Ying following close behind with two.

In the second heat, the players were more guarded in the first half, exploding into a frenzy of feint and counterfeint at the one minute warning. Magdalena Outlander, Garth Goode, Rachire Andel, Rurik Bellinghausen, and Mari Moonbeam played a cat and mouse match that had the spectators enthralled. Capt. Rachire was holding the pressure on Ms Outlander until the tide turned and he became a favoured mark for the other players. As the one minute bell was rung, Play went up to the ceiling of the cave in a desperate bid to score. Garth Goode finished the round with the only kill, having squared off in a last second do-or-die vs. Rachire.

The Champion Round saw some very exciting play. Col. O'toole was the favorite, coming in with three kills from the previous round, and Miss Ying was showing far better control of her mount, and held him in threat in the first minutes. In a Surprise upset, Mr Goode took up a strong lead after a series of well timed surprise attacks.

Garth Goode was awarded the Gold medal, Miss Ying Silver, and Col. O'Toole the Bronze after an exhilarating final match.
